Every member who has completed training should have received a new photo ID card from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC). This new card has a QR code that links to the records of your completed UBC classes that were taken throughout the years. This new card replaces all of the old cards that were issued at the completion of a class; no more individual cards will be issued.
Members who did not receive a card may have an old address on file. You must contact your local union to update your mailing address, and then contact the Elk Grove Village school at 847-640-7373 to request a new card.
All new cards are distributed by the UBC; however, the Elk Grove Village school can issue members a temporary card. You only need to visit the school if you desire a temporary card or if you have no ID photo on file. If you do not have a picture on your current card, you must come to the Elk Grove Village school between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. to have your picture taken. Members who have not completed any training will receive a new ID card once they pass their first training class.
With new ID card in hand, please check your training history by scanning the QR code on the front of the card. After scanning you will see your name and photo as well as your local and classification level. When you click on “Training” you will see a list of the classes that are in your records and the expiration dates of classes, such as rigging. Please be aware that if the expiration date has passed, the records will not appear on your card. Any new training will appear on your card after successful completion of the class.
If a UBC class that you have completed does not appear on the card, please call the school and it can update your records as needed. Please be aware that outside training (non-UBC training that you have completed) will not appear on your card.
Carry your new ID card with you at all times, treat it as a “resume in your back pocket” and be prepared to present it to a prospective employer.
