Scholarships for College

Paying for college is not easy, so every little bit can help. Here are three options available to members of the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council.

Provides financial support to college-bound children of members of local unions affiliated with the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council. Get an application form for the Ted Kenney – George Vest, Jr. Scholarship Award. Applications for the $1,000 scholarships are accepted beginning in April each year.

The Construction Industry Services Corporation (CISCO) has two scholarship programs available.

CISCO Scholarship
Provides financial support to college-bound children of building trade union members and employees of union contractors. Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded each year to children of a member of a trade union affiliated with CISCO or to children of nonbargaining unit employees of a union contractor affiliated with CISCO.

CISCO Continuing Education Scholarship
Provides financial support for CISCO members who are working in the trades or are employees of CISCO contractors who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a community college or a four-year accredited college or university. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded each year.

The Chicago Federation of Labor offers five scholarships and five random-drawing scholarships in the amount of $2,000 to students graduating from a Chicago or suburban-area high school. Students may only apply in one of the two categories. Find additional information on scholarship awards.
